Dogs with separation anxiety have a serious problem. I get it. I’ve come home to the sound of my dog Hazel barking and whining. As soon as I opened the door she’d greet me with wild intensity. She was more than just happy to see me; she acted like she’d been saved. That’s when I’d notice the damage she’d done to the door and the carpet. It happened a lot.
It was a long time ago. We didn’t have good medications yet; our behavior modification methods were just in their early stages. We did what we could. I’ll never forget how I felt trying to help my suffering dog and repair my damaged house. We’ve come a long way. And now we have modern technology that’s making a very big difference.
