Individual Consultations

Our pets deserve a peaceful quality of life, just like us. I’ll need a thorough history so we can identify underlying behavioral causes and apply current, science-based treatments. Other medical factors, sometimes obscure, are involved in many cases.  My careful physical exam, along with a complete lab profile, will assure that nothing is overlooked.

Our initial consultation will last 2 hours.  I’ll share specific recommendations to improve your pet’s behavior problems. I will email those detailed instructions to you within a few days.

The fee for the initial two-hour consultation will be $850.00 including tax. If a one hour follow up consultation is recommended the fee will be $425.00 including tax. Following our initial consultation you will have email access to me for your questions. I’ll do whatever I can to help your pets improve.

Location

Thrive Pet HealthCare Specialists in Albuquerque, 4000 Montgomery Blvd NE at the corner of Montgomery and Morningside. The facility is on the south side of Montgomery, about 3 blocks east of Carlisle.

Arrival

I’ll come outside to the parking lot and invite you and your pet inside for your consultation.

A blood panel and possibly a urinalysis will help me recognize physical causes that may be contributing to the behavior problem; however, this is not a requirement. For accurate results withhold food for at least 12 hours but provide your pet’s normal access to water prior to your appointment. Fasting won’t be necessary if lab work is current.   If a lab profile has been done in the preceding 3-6 months you can ask your regular veterinarian to fax (505-792-2121) or email it (jnicholdvm@gmail.com) to my office.

When I see your pet for the exam I’ll explain the cost of the recommended lab profile. With your approval we can charge it to your credit card. You are welcome to pay by check, cash, or Care Credit if you prefer.

It will help to shoot a brief (30-60 second) video of your pet showing typical interactions around your home. I don’t need to see aggressive behavior. You can email the video to jnicholdvm@aol.com or just bring it to the consultation on your smart phone.
